GoHomeCost publishes free home improvement cost calculators and cost guides. Each tool returns a low, average, and high planning estimate so you can budget a project before requesting contractor quotes.
Why we show ranges instead of one number
Home improvement prices vary with location, project size, site conditions, materials, and contractor workload. A single “average” number hides that variation. Every GoHomeCost estimate shows the range and the assumptions behind it, so you can see what would change the price.
How our estimates are built
- Low, average, and high outcomes instead of false precision.
- Editable assumptions – replace national defaults with your local prices or a written quote.
- Visible fixed costs – delivery, removal, minimum job charges, and other fees are never hidden inside a blended rate.
- Monthly verification – default prices are checked against public sources and the verification date is shown on each page.
Who maintains the calculations
The GoHomeCost Cost Data Team maintains the calculator logic, public price references, automated checks, and monthly review record. We do not present the team as a substitute for a contractor, engineer, supplier, or local building official. Construction specifications and final prices must be verified locally.
Corrections are part of the process
Every calculator page links to its methodology, public references, review date, and issue-reporting route. If a source or result is wrong, we correct the source file, rerun the calculation tests, and republish the affected page.
What we are not
GoHomeCost is not a contractor, and our tools are not professional advice. Estimates help with early budgeting and quote comparison. Structural design, permits, code compliance, and final pricing always require a licensed local professional.
How the site grows
We build one cost category at a time, starting with concrete, and publish a new tool only after its calculation logic, price assumptions, minimums, and source notes are ready.
