How Our Cost Estimates Work

We show low, average, and high costs

Home improvement prices vary with location, access, project size, specification, contractor workload, and site conditions. The average is the main planning figure, while low and high values show normal variation.

Important costs stay visible

Where relevant, estimates separate materials, labor, preparation, removal, delivery, equipment, permits, and minimum charges.

Defaults are editable

National default prices make the tools useful immediately. Replace them with a supplier price or written contractor rate for a more local estimate.

Public sources and monthly review

Price inputs come from freely available supplier sheets, government datasets, trade references, and established cost resources. Update the verification date only after reviewing the underlying prices.

Not professional advice

These tools help with early budgeting and quote comparison. They do not replace structural design, code review, permits, supplier confirmation, or a written contractor scope.
